Background
Real Sociedad is a professional football club located in San Sebastián, Spain. Founded in 1909, the club has established itself as one of the most consistent sides in Spanish football, having competed in 78 seasons of La Liga. Playing its home matches in the Basque Country, Real Sociedad is widely recognised for its strong regional identity, youth development focus, and attractive style of play.
The club enjoyed its greatest period of domestic success in the early 1980s, winning back-to-back La Liga titles in the 1980-81 and 1981-82 seasons. In addition, Real Sociedad has claimed the Copa del Rey multiple times, cementing its reputation as a historically successful and competitive club within Spanish football.
